CCR Mixed Gas Diver

General Information
As a CCR Air Diluent Diver, the Mixed Gas CCR Diver course is your next step into closed circuit rebreather diving, it is your opportunity to explore a little deeper. Using the latest in technology CCR's maximize your gas supply and provide the optimum breathing gas for any depth by maintaining a constant partial pressure of oxygen (PPO2). During the dives your Instructor will teach you all the necessary skills to conduct CCR dives utilizing helium as a diluent gas and oxygen levels as low as 16 percent to a maximum depth of 60 meters.
There are two options for this course:
- Option A: CCR II Extended Range (Air) Diver — Decompression diving with air as diluent gas to a maximum depth of 50m.
- Option B: CCR II Extended Range (Normoxic Trimix) Diver — Decompression diving with air and normoxic Trimix as diluent gas to maximum depths of 50m and 60m respectively.

We offer courses focused on eCCR and mCCR rebreathers in backmount and sidemount configuration. We tailor the course content and setup to the specific type of unit and the diver's level.
Rebreathers we have experience with include, for example, Submatix Quantum CCR, AP Inspiration and AP Evolution CCR, Poseidon SE7EN+, SF2, Flex CCR, X-CCR, JJ-CCR, Liberty CCR, Revo CCR, T-REB CCR, Triton CCR.
Availability of a specific unit and the possibility of running the course on that type of rebreather must be confirmed individually in advance.

What Qualifications Do I Need?
- The CCR Air Diluent qualification or equivalent and must have 50 logged hours on the unit over a minimum of 50 dives.
- The minimum age of enrolment on this programme is 18yrs.
- You will need to fill out a self-certification medical statement.

Course Duration
- Option A: CCR II Extended Range (Air) Diver — no less than 180 minutes in water training during 3 days in 4 dives.
- Option B: CCR Mixed Gas (Normoxic Trimix) Diver — no less than 300 minutes in water training during 5 days in 6 dives (2-4 of which are normoxic Trimix).

The CCR Mixed Gas Diver course takes an in-depth look at all the following and more:
Option A: CCR II Extended Range (Air) Diver
- All theoretical and practical aspects of air diluent decompression diving.
- Physical and physiological hazards of air diluent diving
- Decompression planning and equipment considerations for decompression diving and all procedures involved.
- Dive planning using the integral software as well as computer-based dive tables and software.
Option B: CCR Mixed Gas (Normoxic Trimix) Diver
- This covers all aspects of option A with additional normoxic Trimix theory
Practice In Water
A water session demonstrating all skills must be completed to the instructor's satisfaction prior to conducting any open water dives.
- Full manual operation dive.
- Simulate solenoid failures.
- Simulate manual gas control with valve shutdowns.
- Deploy SMB in less than 1½ minute.
- Practice removing and replacing a stage cylinder, both at rest and while swimming.
- Have divers simulate bailout and have reached 50% of bailout gas switch cylinders.
- Simulating an out-of-gas situation (without breathing, and exhaling slowly).
- Bailout from a depth greater than 160 fsw (48 msw) and ascent for 33 fsw (10 msw) and check how much gas was used and time - post dive use this value to determine bailout needs at depth.
- Perform SCR bailout for at least 10 minutes on a dive
- Remove the harness and cylinders from a simulated unconsciousness diver in less than 2 minutes.
- Complete all Water skills listed under the CCR diver Standards.
- Demonstrate an ability to respond to a single-bladder BCD failure.
